How Jennifer Lopez Has Changed Ben Affleck for the ‘Better’ 7 Months Into Dating

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck will mark their one-year anniversary in May, but even seven months into being back together, Lopez has made Affleck a genuinely better man. Entertainment Tonight spoke to a source about how being with Lopez again has brought out the best in Affleck.

While the couple is currently working, “Ben is just happy with life right now and it's been a while since his friends have seen him in such positive spirits,” the source said. “Jen helps bring out his best self.”

The source credited his recent career success and Lopez for putting Affleck in such a good place generally. “Jen is so supportive and is always pumping him up and saying how talented he is,” the source said. “He has been working out as well and feels great. He has always been funny, creative, smart and caring, but the difference lately is he is always smiling and happy. You can tell he just is so positive and appreciative of how great things are going right now.”

It wasn't an easy path back to Lopez and a healthy relationship, the source noted. “It took him ups and downs to get to this place,” the source said. “He loves Jennifer and says she makes him a better person and motivates him to work hard. He wants to take care of her, even though she doesn't need him to. That is just the type of guy he is.”

Affleck spoke to WSJ magazine's Michael Hainey about second chances, including his with Lopez, last month. I am very lucky in my life in that I have benefited from second chances, and I am aware that other people don’t even get first chances,” he said. “I’ve had second chances in my career. I’ve had second chances as a human being. Life is difficult, and we are always failing and hopefully learning from those failures. The one thing you really need to avail yourself of the opportunities provided from that growth is the second chance. I’ve definitely tried to take advantage of that. I haven’t always been successful, but in cases in which I have, they’ve turned out to be the defining aspects of my life. But tell your wife to imagine the best story [of how Lopez and I reconciled], and I’m sure that’s the true version.” Source: elle.com
